Interrail: How does it work?
With an Interrail pass in hand, you can enjoy unlimited train travel through Europe within a set timeframe. Almost all train operators Europe accept Interrail passes. With an Interrail pass, you can travel by train to destinations as far as Inverness in the northwest, Athens in the southeast, Lisbon in the southwest, Rovaniemi in the northeast, and everywhere in between on the European continent!
Perhaps the greatest aspect of Interrail is that the pass provides full flexibility, as it lets you board most trains without needing to purchase individual tickets for each journey, allowing pass holders to travel spontaneously. Read our main Interrail page to find out more about how an Interrail Pass works.
Different interrail passes
There are two types of Interrail passes available. The Global Pass offers access to trains across 33 European nations, while the One Country Pass is ideal for those looking to explore just one country by train. There are also different durations to choose from: The Flexi pass provides flexibility, allowing unlimited travel on specific days within a set timeframe (e.g., five days in a month), while the continuous pass grants unlimited travel every day for the entire pass duration (e.g., one month). With these options, travellers can select the pass that aligns with their itinerary and budget. Additionally, Interrail passes are available for both second-class and first-class travel.
WHAT ABOUT DISCOUNTED EURAIL PASSES?
Since September 2026, Eurail has been fully integrated into Interrail. Instead of a Eurail Pass, you can now buy any Interrail Pass and thus make full use of this amazing sale!
Previously, only European residents were eligible for an Interrail Pass, while non-European residents had to buy a Eurail Pass. With Eurail now integrated into Interrail, this distinction no longer exists, as the Interrail Pass range is now the only option available, regardless of which country you live in. The Interrail Pass works in exactly the same way as you are used to from Eurail.
